Should Massage Be Charged by Style or Time?

At The Deep Tissue Spa, every session is customized. You won’t see a dropdown list of massage modalities with different prices. That’s not how we work—because it’s not how bodies heal.

Instead of offering a menu of Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, or sports massage at different price points, we charge based on time. That means your therapist has the freedom to use exactly what your body needs—no style restrictions, and no pressure to choose the "right" service.

We do it this way for a few important reasons.

  • Your body doesn’t fit in a box.

Most people don’t walk in needing just one type of massage. Maybe your shoulders need deep work, your hips need myofascial release, and your nervous system needs gentle grounding. That can all happen in the same session. We don’t believe you should have to choose one label or pay extra for a more therapeutic approach.

  • We trust our therapists’ expertise.

Our licensed massage therapists are trained in multiple modalities. They blend deep tissue, Swedish, trigger point, stretching, and myofascial techniques based on your goals and what they feel in your tissue. That’s why every session starts with a real conversation. We listen, assess, and build a treatment plan right there with you.

  • It keeps the focus on outcomes, not labels.

You’re here to feel better—whether that means managing chronic pain, recovering from stress, or simply moving through life with more ease. The style doesn’t matter. The results do. Our pricing structure reflects that.

  • It simplifies everything.

When there are no style-based charges or upgrade pressure, your experience is calmer, more honest, and more focused. You book the time you need, and your therapist takes it from there.

We’re not just being different for the sake of it. This approach is rooted in our belief that massage is a powerful tool for long-term wellbeing—not just a one-time treat. By keeping things simple and client-centered, we make it easier to stay consistent, build trust with your therapist, and get the kind of care that actually works.

What About Specialized Massages?

You might notice we do list separate pricing for certain services like Prenatal Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, or TMJ work. That’s because these sessions follow a specific protocol and are only offered by therapists with advanced training. They aren’t mixed into a regular session—they are the session.

For everything else, we keep it simple: one rate, any style your body needs.

If you have questions about what kind of massage is best for you, don’t worry. That’s our job. All you have to do is show up. We’ll take it from there.
