What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Massage that gets to the root of the problem—without pushing you past your limits.

Quick Facts

Communication with your therapist is key
Massage should never hurt—“no pain, no gain” doesn’t apply here
Deep tissue is goal-focused—Because deep tissue is focused on specific problem areas, your session may not include full-body work.

What Makes Deep Tissue Different

Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia. It’s ideal for treating chronic pain, injury recovery, and limited mobility.

Unlike Swedish massage, deep tissue work isn’t just “harder”—it’s more targeted, more therapeutic, and always tailored to what your body actually needs

Deep Tissue Is Great For:

✓ Neck or upper back pain
✓ Low back pain
✓ Limited mobility
✓ Injury recovery
✓ Repetitive strain (e.g. carpal tunnel)
✓ Postural problems
✓ Tight hamstrings, IT band, quads
✓ Osteoarthritis pain
✓ Sciatica or piriformis syndrome
✓ Tennis elbow
✓ Fibromyalgia

Does It Hurt?

Nope. Deep tissue shouldn’t be painful. If it is, your therapist will adjust.

Pain isn’t productive—your muscles tense up in response, making the work less effective. Talk to us. We’ll listen.

What to Expect During Your Deep Tissue Massage

  1. Check-In & Communication
Your therapist will review your intake form, ask about your goals, and answer any questions before the session begins.

  2. Warm-Up Phase
The session starts with lighter pressure to warm up your muscles and prepare your body for deeper work.

  3. Targeted Techniques
Your therapist will apply focused techniques to address areas of tension, break up adhesions, and improve mobility.

  4. Ongoing Collaboration
You’ll be encouraged to communicate throughout—your input helps guide pressure and pace for the best results.

  5. No Pain, Just Progress
Deep tissue isn’t about “pushing through it.” The goal is to work deeply and effectively without strain—so your body can truly let go.

After Your Massage
You might feel a little sore, but that should fade within 24–48 hours. Drink water, rest, and give yourself some grace. If you’re ever unsure, reach out—we’re here for you. (321) 987-0041
