Pain in the… Most Common Areas We Treat

Every body is different, but some aches and pains show up again and again. If you deal with tight shoulders, low back soreness, or nagging wrist tension, you’re not alone. These are some of the most common pain patterns we see—and how massage helps you feel better.

1. Upper back and shoulder tension
What it feels like: Hunched shoulders, neck stiffness, pain between your shoulder blades
How we help:

  • Loosen tight muscles in your shoulders and upper back

  • Stretch and soften the tissues along your spine

  • Gently stretch your neck and help it move more freely

2. Low back pain
Most people don’t realize that a lot of low back and even hamstring pain actually starts in the glutes. They’re kind of the keystone of the whole posterior chain—when they’re not firing or they’re too tight, everything downstream has to compensate.

What it feels like: A dull ache across your lower back, especially after sitting or standing too long
How we help:

  • Work on your lower back and glutes to release built-up tension

  • Target your hips and core muscles if your posture is affecting your back

  • Use steady, calming pressure to help your whole body relax

3. Hip tightness and sciatic pain
What it feels like: Deep pain in your hips or glutes, or a tingly feeling down your leg
How we help:

  • Focus on tight muscles in your hips and glutes

  • Work around the sciatic nerve to ease pressure without poking or irritating it

  • Help your hips move more easily and comfortably

4. Forearm and wrist tension (desk workers, we see you)
What it feels like: Sore forearms, stiff wrists, or signs of overuse from typing or hands-on work
How we help:

  • Massage your forearms and wrists to release tight muscles

  • Move your wrist and elbow joints gently to restore mobility

  • Suggest easy stretches to help you stay loose between sessions

5. Jaw and face tension (often stress-related)
What it feels like: Clenching, TMJ pain, headaches, or pressure in your face
How we help:

  • Use gentle touch inside and outside your mouth to relax your jaw

  • Massage your scalp and release tension around your neck

  • Help your body shift out of stress mode so you feel calm and grounded

These are just common patterns we see—not one-size-fits-all treatments. When you come in, your therapist will listen to what’s going on and work with you to relieve tension, improve movement, and help you feel more like yourself again.
